Introducing Brenton Brown - Brenton Brown
A native of South Africa, praise and worship singer/songwriter Brenton Brown has been making an impact on christian music for several years, writing songs for artists like Chris Tomlin and Lincoln Brewster, while at the same time pursuing is own solo career. Since releasing two minor albums, he has switched record labels, and is now returning with "Introducing Brenton Brown," a 6-song EP that seems out to redefine his place in the industry, and hopefully give him the recognition which he clearly deserves. Starting things off we have the lead single "Adoration," blending Chris Tomlin melodies with Bid Daddy Weave vocals, the song is soon to be a church favorite as well as gain some radio plays along the way. Next up, we have the anthem like "Amazing God" which only builds on the latter, both in production and lyrics, stating: You're amazing God/You're amazing God/You can bear the weight of every heavy heart/You can heal the pain/You can clean the stain/You can turn our tears into songs of praise/You're amazing God. Following that extraordinary piece, the well-known classic "Everlasting God" is another nice addition to the disc, and while it seems to be yet another cover of this tune, it's refreshing to hear it sung again by it's original writer. Now deep into the second half, the stand-out, "All Who Are Thirsty" brings to mind Matt Redman with clear and made-for-church feel, while "Lord, Reign in Us" continues the CD's near epic feel, which will last until the end of it's run. So though this is hopefully only a taste of what is to come, if you are a praise and worship fan and are looking for new music, this is a good place to look until then. And in the future, I will certainly look forward to hearing more from this rising artist. ~ Christian Lingner
